A Day in a Flipped History Classroom

People always are curious - what does a self-paced, mastery-based flipped history classroom look like? What does your classroom look like? What do you do in class?

The simple response? I talk to kids. All of them. Every day. Some multiple times a day. That still isn't the most clear answer though. To get a better look, I took a timelapse video of two of my 88 minute block history classes on Thursday. Check it out below!

  1. Love this!

I attended a Body language session today at Edcamp NJ, and much of what the presenter, Paul Bogush showed us can applied to this video. The body language of the students show engagement and interest.

Take a look at resources archived by Jerry (Cybraryman) of Paul's presentations: http://cybraryman.com/bodylanguage.html

    1. Kate-

Had you been to an EdCamp before? Given the tweets I saw, EdCampNJ was as awesome as the EdCamps I've been lucky enough to attend.

Glad you liked the video - I've got the page you recommended open now. Thanks for passing it along!

  2. Karl,
It was my FIRST Edcamp (Can you believe it?!) It was an excellent day!

I'm interested in the HOW TO as well. Did you use a web cam or one on a tripod? And how did you put it all together? I started checking out time lapse apps last night. :-)

Thank YOU for sharing such a simple and ingenious way to show how a class functions!
